From Indonesia to your workshop – the origin of our epicPLY lightweight multiplex panel
For us, transparency and quality don't begin at the factory – but where our wood grows .
That's why we set off: to Indonesia , directly to the roots of our epicPLY multiplex board.
Together with content creator Dominik Freundship , we documented the entire creation process – from the tiny seedling to the finished record. The result is a captivating YouTube video that shows where our materials come from and how much passion, knowledge, and responsibility goes into every single step.
It all begins in the nursery.
In the so-called nursery , the growing station for young trees, over 100,000 Albasia tree seedlings are growing.
Here they receive the care and attention they need to grow into strong, high-quality trees. Only after several months are they handed over to the surrounding farmers.
Why the Albasia tree is perfect for epicPLY
Jacob, the owner of the plantations and the sawmill, explains to us why Albasia is the ideal tree for our lightweight multiplex panels :
-
Rapid growth: Ready to harvest after 3–7 years
-
Sustainable cultivation: Serves as a shade tree for other crops
-
Soil improver: Binds nitrogen and releases it back into the soil.
-
Low water requirements: Grows without external irrigation
-
Optimal conditions: Tropical climate, fertile soil and abundant rainfall
A fascinating system that combines ecological responsibility with economic benefits.
From tree to slab
Later in our visit we will show the entire processing chain – from felling the trees to peeling and drying to the finished epicPLY lightweight multiplex panel .
We place particular emphasis on resource conservation, fair working conditions and short distances within production .
Our conclusion
We wanted to see with our own eyes where our material comes from – and we can say:
The epicPLY panel stands not only for lightweight construction and quality , but also for transparency and responsibility .
Each record tells its own story – from a tree that grew in Indonesia to make long-lasting projects possible around the world.
